POLLINATOR GARDEN WISH REALIZED AND RECEIVES 2017 AWARD

Aris Land Studio was awarded the 2017 Public / Institutional Award of Merit by the Connecticut Chapter of the Green Building Council for transforming 2,000 square feet of turf area located at the entrance of Discovery Magnet School in Bridgeport into a pollinator garden to welcome the public and to provide educational opportunities for students. The first three photos were taken in 2017, two years after the garden was installed.

The faculty at Discovery Magnet School had sought to install a pollinator garden for several years to augment their science curriculum. Mary Servino, the science teacher who was the instrumental force behind the project, contacted Aris Stalis, who volunteered to help her design and coordinate the project with her after the school received a grant to purchase materials.
