EXPANSION AND RENOVATION OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL


Completed August 2012, the site combines two schools from the Town onto one campus. The expansion creates opportunities for childcare facilities at the school. The courtyard provides outdoor space for pre­K children, with physical and cognitive stimulation activities.

 

At the courtyard, the space allows for elements such as a sand play area, along with a "tricycleimeter track" along the perimeter of the play area with rubberized safety surfacing. In addition to reading areas for students, the courtyard is design to create a space for staff and teachers to take a break from the daily efforts of educating the children. Other design elements include:

 

• Green infrastructure drainage solutions with rain gardens

• Varied children's play environments

• Improved vehicle circulation
